the assignment

Knowledge can’t be given. We make our own meaning. And the blog is the construction site. Content – the texts and the reading – animates this class.  Although it nurtures other skills and aptitudes, it wants to get you elbow deep in the literature  so that you come to know it deeply, intimately, intricately. Which means that your primary mission this term is to read -- closely, critically, agilely – and to document the meaning you make.

A blog can be a daily meditation, a soapbox, a creative outlet, a letter to the world, whatever we want it to be. In the simplest terms, a blog is a personal website where we write stuff regularly and new entries go at the top. For our purposes, the blog will serve as a reading, research, and learning journal.

You will design and maintain your blog on blogger.com, google’s hosting site. Just go to blogger.com’s homepage, click “create a blog,” and the website will walk you through a few simple steps, like choosing a username, title, template, and web address for the blog. Once your blog’s created, email me the link and start posting.

See your syllabus for more details.
